Jessica Landström not in squad against Canada
- Dennerby says "too little playing time in Frankfurt"
The head coach of the Swedish national team, Thomas Dennerby, has chosen a squad of 20 players before the friendly game against Canada on March 31st. It is surprising not to see the forward Jessica Langström or goalkeeper Kristin Hammarström in the squad.
Dennerby explained why Langström is not in the squad this time: "she gets so little playing time in Frankfurt and then we switched game system to 4-2-3-1 and we do not feel the same need to have four strikers. The competition is tough, no one is happier than me if she gets more playing time in Germany and can find their way back".
And with goalkeeper Hammarström he says "In the case of Kristin Hammarström we feel that we have full control of her. She has regular playing time in both the Champions League and series. For her, we can be sure that she shows up in the national team again."
The game against Canada is in preparation for the Olympics in July, but the Swedish team recently played in Algarve where they lost 4-0 to Germany and the United States.
